MINI reveal 2020 JCW Clubman with 225KW
More is more
Both the Clubman and Countryman will acquire the beefed up version of BMW’s B48 taken from the X2 M35i.
This is a proven engine that will soon be featured in the M135i, M235i and the new MINI John Cooper Works GP!
This 2.0-litre 4-cylinder TwinPower turbo engine produces 225KW and 450NM of torque.
Driving all four wheels with assistance from a front axle mechanical differential lock (also taken from the X2 M35i), new exhaust, re-strengthened body and race inspired engine cooling technology. the result is 0-100km/h in under 5 Sec!!! No small feet for the not so little MINI.
The Countryman is no slacker either, claiming 5.1 seconds to the legal limit.
Both MINI’s will feature Matrix LED headlights and the Clubman has it’s own version of the Union Jack taillights seen on the LCI Cooper.
Aisin will continue to supply both JCW’s with its 8 Speed Automatic transmission and this will be the only option available.
Although not as fast a change as the ZF used in the BMW M models its still perky enough for the paddle shifts to directly control the changes.
The good news is MINI have focused on weight reduction and chassis rigidity for better cornering and all-round performance.
A new sportier exhaust has been fitted with a particulate filter to meet current emissions standards.
All of this promises to be one hell of a car.
We can’t wait to test it!
